everything is gonna be alright, right?

... now if only I could convince myself of that.

Gyp cut her pad at the river on Thursday, I have been pretty upset about it, and haven't written about it until now.

We have our Regional Agility Championships in 3 weeks, which means barely any training, if any, before our event, to give the cut time to heal - I hope it heals with no problems.

I am an 'everything happens for a reason' person, but this is really testing my beliefs. Perhaps this is preventing me from overtraining, maybe this happened instead of something far worse like a permanent injury. Perhaps it is taking the stress away I was having about planning the event, running all of my dogs, wondering how I am going to manage - because right now, that is the last thing on my mind. I feel I am being selfish, and I should be happy it is not worse, but we work so hard to train for this event, and I want to give Gyppie her chance to shine, because she deserves it, she always tries her hardest for me.

I just want a safe, speedy recovery. Gyp is no worse for wear, but we have to keep it clean and wrapped and let the healing happen.

Now if only this sick to my stomach feeling and heavy feeling in my chest would go away. The multiple glasses of red wine, margaritas (thanks Jolayne) , Bud Lite with Lime, have helped to take the edge off, but I am really having a hard time with this. I figure airing this on my blog might make me feel better.

Everything is going to be all right. I bet in a couple of weeks, Gyp will be healed up and as good as new and ready to strut her stuff at Regionals. Gyppie will be OK and I bet she doesn't even notice the couple weeks off in training. She will be raring to go at Regionals and you will do great.

Everything IS going to be all right. Really. Gyp is the kind of dog who will be just as good with practice than without practice. You HAVE trained hard- you HAVE the foundation. You HAVE the skills. And you have a GREAT dog. She will be healed in a week- and it will be okay. She will be better than ever at regionals- and you ARE very, very lucky that it wasn't worse.

Trust in your training, and trust in your dog. She can do it.

You guys are going to rock Regionals! You will see...keep the faith and a positive attitude. Things have a way of working out...it is just the muddling through that is the worst.

I'll be thinking healing thoughts for Gyppie. That's tough, but from what you have said about Gyp - it seems like she is a complete A+ nerd - i.e. doesn't need to study for tests. :-)And you have the skills and foundation, BUT I know how easy it is to worry. You'll be in my thoughts!

We hope her paw paw heals fast. Faith cut her paw paw last yea & it took about 2 weeks to fully heal. The sea water helped to heal it up fast. We went for a pawliday when her paw paw was still not heal & played on the beach.

Pads heal fast-just keep it clean and dry. I'd be surprised if it's totally fine in much less than 3 weeks!

Here's some healing thoughts to help you!

I was worried about my Zip also, she messed up a toe and I haven't worked her for 2 weeks with a big trial coming up this Friday....she ran on Saturday and today like she hadn't had any time off..perfect. So Miss Gyp will be the same way!

She is going to be JUST FINE and you guys are gonna kick some bootie! :-p
